History:
|
|
SRGMHS has served the community of gay men since the first Summit was held in 2001. Up until 2007, the Summit has operated as a loose association of several HIV/AIDS organizations with the assistance and participation of several key pharmaceutical companies and other interested and caring individuals. In 2007, it was decided by those planning the next conference that the Summit should be its own organization. This would allow the Summit to request grant funding independently of any HIV/AIDS organization and in so doing not adversely impact funding to those HIV/AIDS organizations which worked diligently over the years to sustain the Summit. In late 2007, the corporation was formed and application made to the IRS to declare SRGMHS as a qualified 501(c)(3) organization. In March 2008, the Summit received notification of the IRS acceptance of the exemption application. |
